About the Role: This role is for a committed and inspiring teacher to deliver individual or small group and upper string (Violin and Viola) lessons to children aged 7‑18 (school years 3‑13) at our music centre during term time. The successful candidate must be able to teach pupils from beginner to Grade 8 or Diploma on violin and viola, and they will join a dedicated and inspirational team who will support your professional development. You will be supported with resources and shadowing opportunities of other Trafford Music Service staff. A minimum qualification of Grade 8 on violin or viola is required to be shortlisted. Candidates without specific training or qualifications on either instrument will not be considered. The ability to teach another instrument, especially piano, is desirable.
About You: Your style and approach will reflect our values and behaviours: you will be committed to continually learning and improving the way you do things to ensure quality music provision for pupils. You will have excellent organisational and ICT skills and an ability to work efficiently to deadlines. Excellent communication, planning and delivery are essential, and we want someone with a love for teaching children and inspiring the next generation of children to be musical.
Pay and Working Hours: This post is contracted on Teachers’ Pay and Conditions on the Unqualified Teacher pay scale 3‑6. The working hours are 3.5 hours on a Monday (4:00pm – 7:30pm), 3.5 hours on Thursday (4:00pm – 7:30pm) and 3.5 hours on Saturday (9:00am – 12:30pm) during term time, totalling 10.5 hours per week. Candidates may join a job‑share arrangement. Tutors are employed on Teachers’ pay and conditions and therefore have the school holidays off and are expected to fully commit to all term dates. An enhanced DBS check with children barred list check will be required.
