Trafford Leisure is looking for a passionate Freelance Inclusive Exercise Instructor to join the team.
Location: Sale Leisure Centre
Hours: Thursday 11:30 – 12:30
Rate: £22.15 per hour
The Role
Are you passionate about helping others move more and live healthier, happier lives? Trafford Leisure is looking for an Inclusive Exercise Instructor to deliver fun, accessible, chair-based sessions, and light, game-based activities, for adults with learning and physical disabilities. This role requires an approachable and adaptable individual who can communicate clearly and sensitively with participants, support staff, and partner organisations. You’ll need to be flexible in your delivery style, ensuring activities are inclusive, engaging, and responsive to the needs and abilities of the group. While sessions are primarily chair-based, elements of light games and inclusive sports are also incorporated to promote enjoyment, coordination, and teamwork. You will receive 10 weeks of support and guidance from local inclusive provider Beyond Empower and the Trafford Adult Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) to help transfer your knowledge and expertise into the field of inclusive exercise with ongoing support from them as and when required. For the right person, this is an exciting opportunity to develop new skills, support Trafford Leisure’s inclusive offer and provide opportunities to those who often face barriers to activity.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality chair-based exercise sessions tailored to adults with learning and physical disabilities.
- Incorporate light games and adapted activities to encourage enjoyment, coordination, and teamwork.
- Communicate clearly and sensitively with participants, support staff, and partner organisations.
- Adapt activities to meet individual and group needs, ensuring sessions are safe and inclusive.
- Maintain accurate registers and progress records.
Requirements
- Fitness instruction experience (chair-based desirable)
- Approachable, adaptable, and passionate about inclusion
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Calm and resilient when faced with challenging situations

- Public Liability Insurance
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness for Trafford Leisure to arrange this for you)
