Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS) is an independent specialist agency working in Trafford and Salford delivering services to adults and children who have experienced domestic abuse. TDAS is a specialist charity providing services to adults and children and young people experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.

We provide both prevention and intervention services and raise awareness of domestic abuse through training, workshops and public forums.

  • The provision of safe and supportive spaces and temporary accommodation for women and children who have or who are experiencing domestic abuse.
  • The provision of community support services to those who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • To advance the education of the public and those who work in partnership with the public, private, voluntary, community and social enterprise, in issues relating to domestic abuse including its nature, impact and causes.

Main Purpose of Role

To play an integral and active part in the community-based outreach support and community projects within Trafford including the delivery of TDAS domestic abuse programmes.

The role will provide support to individuals assessed as medium risk, as well as those who may escalatate to high risk.

You will work as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary staff team and must be approachable and highly motivated in supporting and encouraging people experiencing domestic violence/abuse, using a trauma informed approach to make informed choices to determine their own future.

Duties and Responsibilities

General:

  • Work with the Chief Executive Officer and other staff members to promote and support the development of TDAS.
  • To adhere to TDAS Code of Conduct at all times.
  • To attend staff meetings when required To work in line with, and follow, the policies and procedures of Safe in Salford & TDAS.
  • To ensure that all TDAS policies and procedures are implemented and promoted by staff.
  • To actively promote diversity in the organisation.
  • To act as an ambassador for and represent the TDAS at external functions.
  • To represent TDAS on local and regional forums.
  • To build positive relationships and partnerships with key local agencies.
  • To embody TDAS’s values and act as a role model.
  • To participate actively in the management team, contributing to the strategic development of the organisation.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be deemed consistent with the requirements of the post.

Main:

  • Provide person-centred, trauma-informed community outreach support to adults experiencing domestic abusethrough a range of approaches, including face-to-face, telephone and digital support.
  • Manage a caseload, providing regular, structured one-to-one support sessions tailored to individual needs.
  • Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments for all service users, ensuring these are reviewed withindefined timescales and responding appropriately to changes in risk in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
  • Co-producing individual support and safety plans that reflect each service user’s circumstances, needs and goals.
  • Provide practical and emotional support, empowering service users to develop independence, build resilience andmake informed choices, advocating alongside them where appropriate.
  • Support service users to access a range of services and resources, including criminal and civil justice, housing,health, legal, welfare and community services.
  • Develop and maintain effective multi-agency partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations,including the police, MARAC, social care, health services, housing providers and legal professionals, to promotesafety and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Represent TDAS at meetings with external agencies and partner organisations, where appropriate.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and procedures, including safeguarding, criminaland civil justice, housing and welfare.
  • Adhere to TDAS and Trafford Borough Council’s safeguarding policies, procedures and practice requirements.Deliver the TDAS True Colours group domestic abuse awareness programme across community venues inTrafford and through online platforms.
  • Deliver domestic abuse awareness and training sessions to professionals across Trafford.
  • Provide support to the TDAS Support Line as required, offering advice, information and emotional support tocallers, and making appropriate referrals and onward signposting.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records and documentation in accordance with safeguarding, dataprotection and organisational requirements.
  • Support the Community Team Leader with the monitoring, reporting and delivery of service outcomes in line withfunder requirements.
  • Plan and manage own workload effectively, working independently and using initiative, including respondingappropriately to situations of crisis, while maintaining a consistently high standard of service.Obtain and respond to regular feedback from service users to support the ongoing development, quality andeffectiveness of TDAS services.
