About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious manager to join our experienced team. The home is well established within the local community and has excellent relationships with partners. As the registered manager you will be responsible for providing good quality care to young people enabling them to make good progress in life. You will work with partners to ensure that young people’s needs are met and that they are effectively safeguarded and their wellbeing is promoted. You will also have responsibility for health and safety, staff recruitment and retention, and compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015). We are looking for a manager who wants to make a difference by providing a stable loving caring home in which young people can grow and have many positive experiences they can take through to adulthood. The home is registered for 5 children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (although usually operates with 3 or 4 children in placement). It is currently rated Requires Improvement to be Good but has a robust action plan in place to quickly return it to Good. The staff team is experienced and provides good quality care to the young people. There is good senior management support in place.
About You: You will have at least two years of experience (within the last five years) working in a residential childcare setting, and at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of care staff. You will have a commitment to delivering high quality care according to the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015). You will also have an in‑depth understanding of the things that matter most to children’s lives. Your style and approach will reflect our values and behaviours: you will be committed to continually learning & improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes; valuing and respecting others’ contribution, you will work together to deliver services; you will take ownership of your actions and strive to get things right. You will have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and health and social care systems to ensure the best outcomes for young people. Trafford has a relational practice model which drives forward the approach to working with young people, their families and professionals. You will be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have a Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare or be working towards this or willing to complete the qualification if you already have a Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) in Residential Childcare.
