About the Role: The main purpose of this role is to provide support to those households placed in temporary/emergency accommodation and to maximise income and eradicate debt owed to HOST for temporary/emergency accommodation, while protecting vulnerable clients, ensuring all households in temporary/emergency accommodation have been issued with the necessary license agreements and a rent account has been established, ensuring that all necessary Housing Benefit claims have been submitted. The Temporary Accommodation Officer will work alongside the Temporary Accommodation Move on Officer to ensure households have move-on pathways in place to reduce the time spent in this type of accommodation.
About You: We want someone with experience in delivering homelessness prevention, resettlement and housing-related support services with proven experience of working within a multi-functional team, with partners, to deliver a range of services to a diverse community. Experience of working within a housing environment dealing with tenant issues and dealing sensitively and effectively with all sections of the community within a customer-focused organization is preferable. You must have the ability to maintain accurate records and produce reports and an understanding of financial control principles and procedures. Experience in dealing with vulnerable customers and customers who may display challenging and disagreeable behaviour is preferable, with the ability to adapt to change and challenges in a positive manner. Drive, determination and excellent relationship skills are also important so if you think you have what we’re looking for then please apply. You must be proficient in the use of IT software packages, including databases and the use of spreadsheets, inputting and calculating with accuracy and be able to communicate effectively with clients either verbally or in writing and to establish excellent working relationships with colleagues at all levels. We are looking for someone with the ability to work independently under pressure and to plan and prioritise own workload to meet own and team deadlines and changes in priority, with the ability to draft standard and non-standard documentation using corporate templates, reports and spreadsheets, accurately, efficiently and with minimal supervision. You must be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative, including the ability to respond independently to unexpected problems and situations.
