Working Pattern: Part time. Working Arrangement: 10.5 hours per week – Monday 4:00‑7:30 pm, Thursday 4:00‑7:30 pm, Saturday 9:00‑12:30 pm during term time.
About the Role: This role is for a committed and inspiring teacher to deliver individual/small group and upper‑string (violin and viola) lessons to children aged 7‑18 (school years 3‑13) at our music centre during term time. The successful candidate must be able to teach pupils from beginner to Grade 8/Diploma on violin and viola. We require a minimum qualification of Grade 8 on either instrument to be shortlisted. Candidates without specific training/qualifications will not be considered. The ability to teach another instrument, especially piano, is desirable.

You will be committed to continually learning and improving the way you do things to ensure quality music provision for pupils. You will have excellent organisational and ICT skills and an ability to work efficiently to deadlines. Excellent communication, planning and delivery are essential, and we want a love for teaching children and inspiring the next generation.

Pay and Working Hours: This post is contracted on Teachers’ Pay and Conditions on the unqualified teacher pay scale 3‑6. The working hours/days are 3.5 hours on a Monday (4 pm‑7:30 pm), 3.5 hours on a Thursday (4 pm‑7:30 pm) and 3.5 hours on a Saturday (9 am‑12:30 pm) during term time, totalling 10.5 hours per week. Candidates may job‑share these hours and commit to part of the above days/times. Applicants must commit to teach during term time. Tutors are employed on Teachers’ pay and conditions and therefore have the school holidays off; all tutors are expected to fully commit to all term dates. An enhanced DBS check with children barred list check will be required.
