Parking and Traffic Manager
Location Trafford Town Hall Stretford / One Trafford Depot (Wythenshawe) and site visits required to various locations across Trafford .
Salary range Band 11 (£49,764 – £52,805)

The role is agile and includes working from the Trafford Town Hall and The One Trafford Depot (Wythenshawe) and will involve visits to locations across Trafford. Access to your own vehicle and a full driving license are required.
Flexibility will be required to work outside of regular office hours including evenings, weekends for occasions such as reviewing enforcement at events and attending Council meetings. Out-of-hour working is always planned so you will have plenty of notice.
Interview type In person, with candidates providing a 10 minute presentation on leadership and managing change within a public sector organization.
About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to lead our parking enforcement team. Reporting to the Head of Highways and Transport, you will act as the senior professional lead. Working collaboratively within the Place Directorate the role ensures that appropriate policies, plans and contracts are delivered to the highest standards, in line with relevant legislation and best practice.
The role will provide leadership and expertise at a senior level. The role will also lead on the development and the review of strategies, including implementation of any changes.
You will also be leading a team, currently of 6, ensuring resources are allocated accordingly to meet the demands of the service, budget management and the maintenance of car parks.
A typical day would include reviewing and approving customer and stakeholder correspondence, developing and approving campaigns to increase car park usage a working with our contracted suppliers to ensure they’re meeting contractual obligations.
Key activities of the team include:
- Responding to penalty appeals ensuring, these are processed efficiently and in line with statutory guidance
- Ensuring the enforcement contractor fulfils their contractual obligations fully and that car parks are manages to deliver safe parking, monitoring usage and developing campaigns to increase car park use where required.
- Contributing to the management and introduction of additional and current moving traffic sites across the borough to deliver and manage the contracts these initiatives bring.
You will work with internal departments and play a key role in contributing to the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles across Trafford.
About you
You will have excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to engage with internal departments, private businesses and customers. You’ll also be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Having proven experience of operating at a senior level and successfully overseeing the management of parking enforcement contracts and leading on their procurement.
You will work with our leadership team to build upon parking and traffic enforcement, whilst identifying areas to help the department continually improve.
