This is a role for a leader who sees the bigger picture and understands how to turn it into meaningful, measurable impact.

You will guide the commissioning of high‑quality, value‑for‑money services that enable people to live well, independently and with dignity. Your leadership will influence the full commissioning cycle, from understanding local needs and shaping the market, to ensuring that services are safe, sustainable and aligned with the aspirations of our residents.

You will also oversee our in‑house provider services, ensuring they operate to the highest standards and continue to evolve in line with national expectations and local priorities. Working at the heart of a collaborative and ambitious Directorate Management Team, you will help drive Trafford’s Improving Lives Everyday programme, ensuring that transformation is not just a concept but a lived reality for our workforce, partners and communities.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, the NHS, the Integrated Care Board, and the voluntary, community and faith sectors, building strong partnerships that unlock innovation and strengthen the local care market. You will ensure that our commissioning intentions reflect both our statutory responsibilities and our ambition to deliver services that are truly person‑centred. You will also play a key role in ensuring financial sustainability, providing clear, evidence‑based advice to senior colleagues and elected members.

Above all, you will be someone who leads with integrity, empathy and purpose. You will empower teams, nurture talent and create the conditions for people to do their best work.
