Stockport College is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Counselling Lecturers to join our team and support the delivery of our Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling programmes from September. We are looking for qualified counselling professionals who are passionate about supporting learners and can bring current counselling practice, knowledge and expertise into the classroom. The successful candidates will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment across our Counselling provision.
The Role
As a Counselling Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching sessions across our Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling programmes, supporting learners to develop their counselling knowledge, practical skills and reflective practice. We require flexible support across:
- Daytime teaching hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- Evening teaching hours (Tuesdays)

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching sessions across Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling programmes.
- Support learners in developing counselling theory, skills and ethical practice.
- Plan and deliver engaging, learner‑centred sessions.
- Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate learner records and support learner achievement.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- A recognised Counselling qualification (minimum Level 4 Diploma or equivalent).
- Relevant professional counselling experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of counselling theory, practice and ethical frameworks.
- A commitment to supporting learners and promoting successful outcomes.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience delivering Counselling qualifications at Level 2 and/or Level 3.
- Experience of assessment and quality assurance processes.
- A teaching qualification (such as AET, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one.
