Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Salary: £35,019 – £49,767 FTE (£17,509.50 – £24,883.50 pro rata for 0.5 FTE).
Pension contribution: 28.68% (FTE)
Location: The Trafford and Stockport College Group – Altrincham and Stockport campuses (potential for deployment at other sites if required and mutually agreed)
The Trafford & Stockport College Group (TSCG) invites an experienced teacher of GCSE English and functional skills to join the Adult English and Maths team and contribute to our goal of unlocking potential for successful futures.
GCSE English and functional skills play a central role in our Adult Education provision, enabling learners to achieve a Grade 4 and improve their English skills and GCSE grades to advance their education, employment, and personal development.
The Role:
As part of the highly experienced Adult Maths and English team, you will deliver high‑quality, learner‑focused education and contribute to ongoing excellence in teaching, learning and assessment in your specialist subject. You will engage learners, help them overcome barriers, and provide a relevant, practical and enjoyable learning experience that secures positive outcomes for all students.
This role requires you to develop the curriculum, implement effective teaching and learning strategies, and support students to succeed and thrive in their chosen subject area.
About you:
We seek a teacher passionate about English who can share knowledge, skills and experience and support young people and adults. Candidates with recent experience teaching post‑16 GCSE or secondary GCSE English are particularly suitable. An English degree is not essential, but clear evidence of subject specialism in related disciplines is required. This role suits both newly qualified teachers and experienced practitioners.
The position offers ongoing internal and external CPD opportunities, including subject‑specific professional development.
