The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tooling Engineer.

Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tooling Engineer will be responsible for:

  1. Owning and delivering all new Tooling projects.
  2. Reviewing and buying off Tooling designs.
  3. Project management of tooling suppliers.
  4. Attending buy off events and overseeing sampling and commissioning at suppliers and home line.
  5. Owning and managing Pre and Final acceptance tests.
  6. Producing 2D product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities.
  7. Conducting Part Feasibility reviews and applying design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to evaluate product designs.
  8. Understanding part tolerances, dimensional capability statistics and GD&T.
  9. Generating and developing Part and Tooling CAD models using SolidWorks or CATIA.
  10. Interrogating flow analysis reports.
  11. Generating SOR, RFQ to support engineering and quoting activities.
  12. Supporting continuous improvement activities through effective use of 3D and 2D CAD to propose product design changes and tooling improvements.
  13. Participating in root-cause analysis and implementing countermeasures.
  14. Maintaining master tool drawings and facilitating access to Toolroom staff for all tooling maintenance minimizing downtime and costs.
  15. Assisting with department standardisation process.
  16. Validating Flow and thermal analysis during production, working closely with toolroom and process engineers to capture lessons learned.
  17. Reviewing current production tooling issues and identifying areas for improvement.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of an Apprenticeship or ONC/HNC and be familiar with die casting processes.
