Tool Maker – Double Days

A recognised high volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.

Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:

  1. Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
  2. Effectively identifying day-to-day tooling issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  3. Cleaning all production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  4. Ensuring all tooling is safe and production-ready at the time of return for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) processes.
  5. Advising the Leader when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  6. Supporting coordination of engineering changes and maintenance of spare parts.
  7. Preparing and testing tools by laying out, setting up, and machining.
  8. Designing/making tools or templates to produce prototype parts of various materials, including generating bills of material and complete fabrication and validation.
  9. Verifying conformance of machined and repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
  10. Making parts of various plant machines and tools as required.
  11. Fitting and assembling parts and testing completed tools for proper operation.
  12. Setting up and carefully monitoring tools and performing inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine.
  13. Following up on repair work by seeking feedback from production and quality departments and recording the work undertaken.
  14. Promoting the company\’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
  15. The successful candidate should have a minimum of an apprenticeship and be familiar with die casting processes.
