Tool Maker – Double Days
A recognised high volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.
Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:
- Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
- Effectively identifying day-to-day tooling issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Cleaning all production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
- Ensuring all tooling is safe and production-ready at the time of return for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) processes.
- Advising the Leader when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
- Supporting coordination of engineering changes and maintenance of spare parts.
- Preparing and testing tools by laying out, setting up, and machining.
- Designing/making tools or templates to produce prototype parts of various materials, including generating bills of material and complete fabrication and validation.
- Verifying conformance of machined and repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
- Making parts of various plant machines and tools as required.
- Fitting and assembling parts and testing completed tools for proper operation.
- Setting up and carefully monitoring tools and performing inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine.
- Following up on repair work by seeking feedback from production and quality departments and recording the work undertaken.
- Promoting the company\’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of an apprenticeship and be familiar with die casting processes.
