Tool Maker – Double Days

A recognised high-volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.

Working from their manufacturing facility in Warwickshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:

  1. Interpreting engineering drawings and determining the most appropriate manufacturing route for tooling and modifications, in conjunction with Process Facilitator.
  2. Proficient in the use of all Toolroom machinery/equipment, including safe use and fitting of grinding wheels for manufacturing and repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and special equipment, making necessary dimensional adjustments.
  3. Assembling/disassembling press tooling or other types of tooling, checking clearances and tolerances to drawings, and making adjustments for satisfactory performance, including proving tools in manufacture.
  4. Diagnosing faults in tooling identified by production teams and inspection reports, and producing corrective solutions.
  5. Performing or being trained in hard tool steel welding.
  6. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe Toolroom environment, adhering to safe working methods.
  7. Assisting in training new employees, apprentices, or trainees where appropriate.
  8. Identifying areas for productivity improvement within the Toolroom.
  9. Reporting shortages in consumables or equipment to Process Facilitators and/or Manager.
  10. Liaising with sub-contractors for manufacturing and repairing special tools/dies.

The successful candidate should have at least an Apprenticeship and be familiar with Press Tooling processes.
