A service engineer position has become available with a leading OEM of both CNC and traditional woodworking machinery. Globally recognized as a true leader in the woodworking machine tool industry, they specialize in providing automation and processing solutions to clients across various manufacturing sectors. They have a great infrastructure in the UK that consists of a large mix of multi-skilled service engineers, technical helpdesk support, applications and training staff, and a UK head office for machine availability/upgrades.
This position offers a competitive basic salary depending on experience, paid door to door, overtime during the weekend, overnight stay allowances, a company vehicle with the option for private mileage, 30 days holiday, a contributory pension scheme, great product training, and much more.
Responsibilities for the Service Engineer include:
- Installation, commissioning, maintenance & service of CNC and manual machinery including saws, CNC machining centres, drills, CNC Edgebanders, and automated handling equipment.
- Routine service and inspection checks to company standard.
- Breakdown maintenance including both mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Full installation, setup, levelling, and geometry checks.
- Providing end-user support to customers as well as training and demos.
- Reporting back to the office on any spares or replacement part requirements.
- Using a laptop to complete all service and maintenance reports, and to submit timesheets/expenses.

There is a robust training package with this role too; working for an OEM, they’re able to deliver effective training to upskill on their products fairly quickly. Nationwide travel is expected at times; however, the business aims to keep engineers as regional as possible whilst on breakdowns and servicing.
To be successful in this Service Engineer role you will have:
- Previous experience as a field service engineer working for a similar OEM of capital equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical repairs to machine tools, along with basic knowledge of working safely with electrical circuits and wiring to swap parts like for like.
- Willingness to travel nationally and show flexibility towards overnight stays when required.
- Full clean driver's license.
