Executive Producer

We are now recruiting for a new Executive Producer to join Trafalgar Theatre Productions (TTP), reporting directly to the Joint CEO and Creative Director and working alongside TTP’s existing Executive Producers, to deliver TTP’s slate of diverse theatrical productions in the West End, around the UK and internationally.

Trafalgar Entertainment is an award winning global live-entertainment business, producing plays and musicals, theatre and venue ownership and operations, live music and comedy, events and hospitality, Performing Arts education, ticketing, the distribution and filming of event cinema and TV live-streaming innovative content through Trafalgar Releasing Ltd (from David Tennant in Macbeth to Taylor Swift).

Trafalgar Entertainment is home to Trafalgar Theatres (with 23 venues in the UK, Sydney, London, and across the UK), 4 London Theatres, Trafalgar Theatre, The Bridge Theatre, FUTURE VENUE IN Kings Cross and the new BRIT AIRW Olympia Theatre.

Trafalgar Releasing (distributors of specialised content to over 13,000 cinemas, television and other broadcast platforms in more than 132 countries worldwide, with content ranging from Beyoncé to the Royal Opera House), Stagecoach Performing Arts, Drama Kids, Trafalgar Global Tickets, London Theatre Direct (one of London and the UK’s leading ticket retailers and distributors), Stagedoor, Jonathan Church Theatre Productions and Imagine Theatre (one of the UK’s biggest pantomime and family entertainment producers) with 21 pantomimes in 2025/26).

Job Summary / The Role

TTP is currently in a period of growth driven by Trafalgar’s acquisition of new venues both in London and internationally and is seeking to appoint a new Executive Producer to join TTP’s existing senior leadership team.

The Executive Producer will provide senior leadership in producing and programming across TTP’s live entertainment portfolio, overseeing the development, delivery and future life of productions in line with the company’s artistic, commercial and organisational objectives and content requirements for Trafalgar’s venues.

Working closely with senior leadership, creative teams, producers, Trafalgar Entertainment venues, co-producers and commercial partners, the Executive Producer will identify and develop new production opportunities, ensure robust financial and operational oversight, and support productions to achieve strong artistic, audience and commercial outcomes nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

• Lead the strategic planning, development and delivery of a portfolio of productions, ensuring each project aligns with Trafalgar Entertainment’s artistic, commercial and organisational objectives.
• Work closely with senior leadership, creative teams, producers and commercial partners to identify, assess and develop new production and programming opportunities, including original work, revivals, transfers, tours, co-productions and international projects, often focused on TE venues.
• Oversee the full producing lifecycle of productions, from early development and budgeting through to contracting, rehearsal, opening, touring, transfer, recoupment and future life planning.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with writers, directors, creatives, agents, rights holders, co-producers, venues, investors, industry bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Lead or oversee negotiations with rights holders, creative teams, co-producers, venues, investors and other partners, working closely with legal, finance and senior colleagues as appropriate.
• Ensure robust financial planning and commercial oversight for each production, including budgets, forecasts, cashflows, recoupment models and financial reporting, in partnership with Finance and General Management teams.
• Monitor production performance against artistic, operational and financial objectives, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending appropriate action.
• Provide leadership, direction and support to producers, associate producers, production teams and freelancers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing working culture.
• Ensure productions are delivered to a high standard, on time and within agreed budget parameters, while supporting creative ambition and practical delivery.
• Work collaboratively with marketing, communications, ticketing, venues, education, Trafalgar Releasing Ltd, partnerships and development teams to maximise audience reach, profile, income and long-term value.
• Represent Trafalgar Entertainment externally with professionalism and credibility, including at industry meetings, partner discussions, press nights, investor updates and sector forums.
• Contribute to wider business planning, artistic strategy and organisational development as a senior member of the team.
• Ensure appropriate governance, risk management, contractual compliance and industry standards are maintained across all productions.
• Support the future life of productions through touring, transfers, licensing, digital opportunities, international partnerships and other commercial exploitation.
• Any other reasonable duties as required by the Joint CEO & Creative Director or senior officers of the company.

Experience & Skills required

• Significant producing experience within theatre, live entertainment or a closely related cultural/commercial environment, including experience at senior producer or executive producer level.
• Proven experience in developing, producing and managing major productions in Australia, to support Trafalgar’s existing and planned venue businesses in Australia.
• A strong track record of developing, delivering and commercially managing productions from concept or early development through to opening, touring, transfer or future exploitation.
• Excellent commercial and financial acumen, with experience of production budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, recoupment modelling and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams, including producers, associate producers, production colleagues and freelance creative or operational teams.
• Established network of industry relationships, including creatives, agents, rights holders, venues, co-producers, investors, general managers and other commercial partners.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to represent the organisation in high-level internal and external discussions.
• Sound understanding of production contracts, rights agreements, union or industry frameworks, risk management and governance requirements.
• Ability to balance artistic ambition with commercial discipline, practical delivery and organisational priorities.
• Highly organised and resilient, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects, competing deadlines and changing priorities.
• Excellent communication, judgement and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
