Trading Post Coffee Roasters is an artisan coffee roasting and hospitality business that, since opening in 2017, has expanded to serve freshly roasted coffee, brunch, and cocktails across Brighton and Sussex. We are looking for an experienced Head Barista to lead the team to ensure that coffee at Trading Post Coffee Roasters is always delivered to the very best standard. This means ensuring that the team are always engaging with guests, that the quality of the coffee served to our guests is always consistent, and that a prompt speed of service is always provided. You’ll have top attention to detail, along with a genuine passion for all things coffee. You will be comfortable working with our top-of-the-range machines and grinders and have a strong understanding of at-home brewing methods to be able to advise your customers. Leading from the front, our Head Baristas demonstrate a 'we're all in this together' attitude, experience in recruiting and developing a team, managing and controlling stock, and what it takes to be an effective leader. You’ll be confident in a customer-focused environment and know what it takes to always deliver top-quality coffee and great hospitality.

What You Can Expect Your Responsibilities to Be

  • Dialling in grinders for all blends and single origins to the brand standard
  • Open and close down the coffee section independently
  • Train and develop team members and actively encourage continuous professional development
  • Maintain the standard speed of service, coffee quality and overall consistency, in a fast-paced environment
  • Pouring advanced latte art and have an understanding of alternative milks
  • Maintain cleanliness standards at all times
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all Trading Post blends and single origins including tasting notes and recipes
  • Consistently deliver great hospitality with huge personality within the hospitality standards framework
  • Undertake regular training and always be striving for self-improvement
  • Lead and support a busy team and take an active part in contributing to team-driven results
  • Display a smart and professional appearance, striving to represent Trading Post Coffee Roasters in a positive way
