What you’ll do

Trading 212 offers over 9,000 global stocks and ETFs and as such is subject to numerous operational tax regimes including US Withholding & Reporting (as a Qualified Intermediary), FATCA, CRS and a variety of financial transaction taxes across the world.

We want to introduce a new position, Head of Tax Operations, to oversee the governance, policies, processes and procedures of ensuring valid documentation, withholding, reporting and payment across all jurisdictions are effectively managed and executed.

The particular areas this role will have responsibility and oversight, on both a UK and then ultimately group basis, are as follows:

  • US tax obligations regarding US WHT as a QI/QDD
  • UK tax obligations regarding SDRT
  • Financial transactions taxes (FFTT, FINRA fee, SEC fee, etc.)
  • Involved in for the Group’s tax strategy and tax optimization
  • CRS/FATCA reporting
  • Ensuring correct documentation from a customer perspective is in place for all the above
  • Review and ongoing maintenance/updating of current processes and procedures
  • Lead tax research on new product/market launches
  • Product ownership of tax-efficient accounts
  • Ensuring correct documentation with various counterparties (both within the Group and externally) is in place and maintained.
  • Managing the resolution of any arising post reporting actions.
  • Providing / managing the provision of accurate relevant tax advice to key stakeholders and senior management

What you need to have

  • Qualified Tax professional – preferably CTA or other similar qualification with a knowledge of operational taxes. Qualification by experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years’ experience in financial services.
  • Minimum 2:1 degree within a relevant field.
  • Curious and determined to find the right solution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Excellent communication style.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be adaptable.
