Tradewinds Engineering Ltd specialises in the design, installation, service, maintenance, and commissioning of refrigeration, air conditioning, and provision systems for the marine and oil/gas industries. With nearly three decades of experience, the company has delivered a wide range of projects worldwide, including service contracts, inspections, energy audits, and project supervision. Tradewinds Engineering also provides ATEX explosion-safe and Marine Corrosion Resistant AC solutions. As an approved City & Guilds training centre, the company offers in-person and online refrigeration and marine engineering courses across the UK and bespoke locations. Tradewinds supports ongoing professional development for technicians and engineers.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Taunton. The role will require excellent organizational, compliance and engineering skills along with the ability to oversee projects from initial survey and quotation, through to completion, under the guidance of our Project Manager. You will provide design and technical support throughout the project lifespan, including document pack creation. Creativity, accuracy, attention to detail, precision and diligence will be just some of the qualities required to thrive in this role. You will be designing Chiller and Provision systems; a strong background in Solidworks or Autocad is essential as you will be creating 3D models of the components for fabrication. Detailed documentation will also need to be provided for each project.

Responsibilities:

  • Draw, update, and maintain designs
  • Manage multiple complex projects at the same time
  • Ensure our designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer requirements
  • Ensure that all design projects are completed within budget and time
  • Creation of 2D or 3D Solidworks and Autocad drawings or models
  • Carry out mechanical HVACR design reviews using HVACR analysis software
  • Define the equipment selection and sizing criteria. Obtain pricing from suppliers
  • Creation of technical manuals, schematic and electrical drawings
  • Oversee the quality control of equipment
  • Contribute to the delivery of work packages and design solutions, scope of works, bill of materials, risk assessments and all relevant documentation
  • Review and originate design solutions which comply with specifications and user requirements; safety requirements; Legislation; British Standards, Oil & Gas Standards; Codes of Practice and good engineering principles to agreed time, cost and quality requirements
  • Communicate with the clients on project status jointly with our Project Manager

Qualifications:

  • Experienced in 2D and 3D drawing software including AUTOCAD, Solidworks or equivalent
  • Experience with HVACR or similar heat load software
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent people and project management skills
  • Highly organized and methodical
  • Excellent attention to detail with experience of working in a compliance orientated role
  • Microsoft Office – including word, excel and power point experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
