This is a full-time, on-site Marine Refrigeration Engineer role based in Taunton, Somerset, UK. The Marine Refrigeration Engineer will install, commission, service, and maintain marine and offshore refrigeration, CO2, air conditioning, and provision systems. Typical responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing faults
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Carrying out inspection surveys
- Ensuring compliance with relevant safety and environmental regulations
- Preparing technical reports
- Maintaining accurate service documentation
- Supporting project supervision activities where required
The Marine Refrigeration Engineer will also liaise with vessel crews and clients, providing clear technical guidance and high-quality customer service while working in shipyards, offshore installations, and other marine environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong technical skills in Maintenance & Repair and Preventive Maintenance for marine refrigeration, air conditioning, and provision systems
- Hands-on experience working with refrigerants, including safe handling practices and applicable regulations
- Solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Effective Customer Service and communication skills to interact professionally with clients, vessel crews, and project stakeholders
- Relevant vocational qualification in Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field
- F-gas 2079 or equivalent refrigeration handling certification; marine or offshore certifications are an advantage
- Experience in marine or offshore environments, including familiarity with ATEX and safety-critical systems, is highly beneficial
- Willingness to travel to shipyards, ports, and offshore locations, and to work flexibly to meet operational demands
