School Caretaker – Secondary School
Location: Croydon, South London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time | All Year Round (or Term Time + Some Holidays)
Are you a reliable, hands-on individual with a strong sense of responsibility and pride in your work? A well-established secondary school in Croydon is looking for a dedicated School Caretaker to join our site team from September 2025 .
This is a key role in ensuring our school remains a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site.
- Opening and closing the school premises (site security).
- Ensuring health and safety standards are met at all times.
- Managing cleaning staff and ensuring cleanliness across the site.
- Assisting with setting up rooms for school events, exams, and activities.
- Monitoring contractors on site and overseeing planned maintenance schedules.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, or site management role (school setting desirable).
- Basic maintenance and DIY skills (plumbing, painting, carpentry, etc.).
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- A proactive, flexible, and reliable attitude.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
