Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a specialist provision seeking a dedicated and nurturing teacher to join their team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. This is a temporary role with the strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The role involves teaching a small ASC class of 8 pupils, chronologically in Years 1, 2 and 3, but working more at an EYFS developmental level. Pupils present with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and benefit from a highly structured, calm and sensory-aware learning environment.
About the pupils:
- Children may present with delayed communication and language, including some non-verbal or pre-verbal learners.
- Require consistent routines, visual supports and clear boundaries.
- May experience sensory processing differences and emotional regulation challenges.
- Thrive with play-based, child-led learning and a strong focus on communication, social interaction and independence.
The role:
- Delivering an EYFS-style curriculum adapted to meet individual needs.
- Creating a safe, engaging and predictable classroom environment.
- Working closely with experienced Teaching Assistants and support staff.
- Using strategies such as visual timetables, PECS, sensory activities and structured play.
- Supporting pupils' emotional regulation, communication and social development.
- Planning time provided.
The ideal candidate:
- A qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent).
- Experience working with ASC and/or EYFS, either in mainstream or specialist settings.
- Calm, patient and adaptable with a strong understanding of neurodiversity.
- Confident in differentiating learning and responding to individual needs.
- Passionate about inclusive education and making a real difference.
