Tradewind Recruitment are seeking skilled level 3, British Sign Language (BSL) practitioners to join specialist schools that cater to deaf children and those who are hard of hearing from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced BSL Teaching Assistants to support pupils with hearing impairments and additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence in nurturing and inclusive schools across Bristol.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support using BSL to facilitate communication and learning
- Assisting class teachers with adapted lessons and individualised support plans
- Promoting independence, confidence, and positive social interaction among pupils
- Supporting the inclusion of pupils with hearing impairments within the wider school community
What We’re Looking For:
- BSL qualification (Level 3 preferred - minimum Level 2 required)
- Experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments (in a school or care setting)
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
