Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - SEND & SEMH, Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire. Full-Time Temp to Perm secondary role via Tradewind Recruitment.

We are delighted to be recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for an exciting opportunity at a brand-new SEND school site in Irthlingborough, part of a highly regarded and supportive multi-academy trust specialising in SEND provision. This role is ideal for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges, and places a strong emphasis on relationships, regulation, and positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting learning both in and out of the classroom.
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher.
  • Leading small group and 1:1 interventions.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams.
  • Contributing to behaviour support strategies.
  • Helping create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils can thrive.

Contract

This position is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, booked through Tradewind Recruitment, providing an excellent opportunity to join the school, build strong relationships, and transition into a permanent role within a growing trust.

Ideal candidate

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience supporting SEND and/or SEMH pupils.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
