Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming secondary school in Wellingborough that is looking to appoint a Design & Technology Technician to join their Art & DT team from February half term 2026. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting the smooth running of practical teaching spaces and helping staff and students get the most out of Design & Technology lessons.

As a DT Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining workshops, preparing resources, and ensuring a safe, well-organised environment where practical learning can thrive.

What the Job Involves:

  • Looking after tools, machinery, and equipment across DT rooms and workshops
  • Monitoring health and safety procedures and carrying out regular checks
  • Preparing materials and resources so teachers and students can get straight to work
  • Supporting staff and students with practical, hands-on projects
  • Managing stock levels and helping with ordering supplies
  • Organising servicing, maintenance, and repairs for machinery and extraction systems
  • Helping with displays, mounting student work, and general department tasks
  • Acting as a first aider within the department (training provided if required)
  • Working closely with other technicians and staff to support busy periods

  • Have experience in a workshop, engineering, or DT environment (school-based experience is beneficial but not essential)
  • Are confident using a range of tools and machinery such as saws, drills, and 3D printers (training can be provided)
