Daily Pay: 100-160 (depending on experience and responsibilities)

Are you a graduate with a degree in English or a related subject and a passion for inspiring young minds? Have you gained experience through tutoring, cover supervision, or unqualified teaching—but not yet secured Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)? Secondary schools across Northampton are seeking motivated and confident Unqualified English Teachers to join their teams from September 2025. These full-time roles offer a fantastic opportunity to gain real classroom experience while working towards a career in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging English lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students
  • Support pupils in developing their understanding of literature, language, and creative writing
  • Assist with planning, marking, and differentiation under the guidance of qualified teachers
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, in line with school policies
  • Participate in staff training, safeguarding updates, and wider school initiatives
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to help students achieve their potential

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, or a closely related field
  • A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and helping young people succeed
  • Confident classroom presence and strong communication skills
  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, or unqualified teaching (desirable)
  • A clear interest in pursuing QTS through a PGCE, SCITT, or school-based training route
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
