How to prepare for a job interview at Tradewind Recruitment

Know Your SEMH Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support. Be ready to discuss specific strategies you've used in the past to help children build confidence and resilience. This shows you're not just passionate but also knowledgeable about the role.

Showcase Your Experience

Prepare examples from your previous roles that highlight your experience working with children or young people, especially in behaviour-support settings. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers and make them impactful.

Demonstrate Team Spirit

Since you'll be working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, emphasise your teamwork skills. Share instances where collaboration led to positive outcomes for students. This will show that you can integrate well into their supportive school culture.

Ask Thoughtful Questions

At the end of the interview, have a few questions ready about the school's approach to SEMH support or how they measure success in mentoring. This not only shows your interest but also helps you gauge if the school is the right fit for you.
