Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Tutor to provide tailored tuition for children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This is an incredible opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.

You will become part of a committed and innovative team, delivering personalised, one-to-one tuition sessions. These sessions may be held in person at the student's home or a public library, or delivered remotely online, offering a flexible and rewarding work-life balance.

Detailed Job Description

As a 1:1 Tutor, you will:

  • Plan and Deliver Bespoke Sessions: Create and deliver engaging, highly differentiated tuition sessions that cater to the unique needs, interests, and learning styles of each student.

  • Focus on Individual Progress: Adapt the curriculum to address specific gaps in a student's knowledge and skills, building their confidence and fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

  • Build a Nurturing Connection: Develop a strong, trusting, and supportive relationship with your student, creating a safe and encouraging environment for them to learn and grow.

  • Manage and Support: Use your understanding of SEMH to proactively support your student, employing effective de-escalation techniques and promoting a respectful and positive learning experience.

  • Monitor and Report Progress: Regularly assess student progress, providing clear and detailed updates to the student's family, school, and our team to ensure a collaborative approach to their development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is preferred, but experienced and highly skilled tutors will also be considered.

  • Experience working with young people with complex needs, particularly those with SEMH.

  • A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt and think on your feet.

  • A creative and resourceful outlook, capable of designing meaningful and stimulating lessons that re-engage disengaged learners.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong rapport with both students and their families
