SEN Support Teaching Assistant - Towcester (Primary School)

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Towcester that is seeking a dedicated SEN Support Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Role

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to implement individual learning plans and targeted support strategies.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to support progress in learning and development.
  • Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual pupil requirements.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and relevant staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all pupils.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and ethos of inclusion.

  • Has experience working with children with SEND in a school or educational setting.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Can adapt flexibly to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Has good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Holds relevant TA or SEND qualifications (desirable but not essential).
