Responsibilities
- Teach small classes of pupils with SEMH needs, often on a personalised curriculum designed to re-engage them with learning.
- Work closely with support staff and behavioural leads to deliver high-impact lessons while promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence.
- Plan and deliver creative, adaptive lessons suited to individual needs.
- Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques (Team Teach).
- Build trust-based relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma or disruption.
- Work closely with pastoral teams and external professionals.
- Track and monitor progress both academically and emotionally.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
- Team Teach trained (must be current or willing to refresh).
- Previous experience in PRUs, Alternative Provisions, or SEMH settings.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- A nurturing, calm and consistent approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
