Tradewind is recruiting for a qualified and experienced teacher to work in Alternative Provision settings across [insert area]. These schools cater to pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education or require a more supportive, tailored environment to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Teach small classes of pupils with SEMH needs, often on a personalised curriculum designed to re-engage them with learning.
  • Work closely with support staff and behavioural leads to deliver high-impact lessons while promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence.
  • Plan and deliver creative, adaptive lessons suited to individual needs.
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques (Team Teach).
  • Build trust-based relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma or disruption.
  • Work closely with pastoral teams and external professionals.
  • Track and monitor progress both academically and emotionally.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
  • Team Teach trained (must be current or willing to refresh).
  • Previous experience in PRUs, Alternative Provisions, or SEMH settings.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • A nurturing, calm and consistent approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
