Teaching Assistant / Cook - Alternative Provision Blackburn

Location: Blackburn

Full-Time Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

90 - 125 per day

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a highly supportive Alternative Provision in Blackburn, and we\'re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with catering experience to join their passionate team.

This is a unique dual-role perfect for someone who thrives both in the classroom and the kitchen! You\'ll be working within the classroom supporting students with additional needs and challenging behaviours, while also taking responsibility for preparing and serving meals in line with dietary requirements and food safety standards.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

In-Class Support:

  • Assisting students on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Supporting learning under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour in a positive and consistent manner.

Kitchen/Catering Duties:

  • Planning and preparing simple, nutritious meals for students.
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene are maintained at all times.
  • Managing food stock, storage and ordering (as required).

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (preferably in an educational or care setting).
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential).
  • A calm, resilient and nurturing approach to behaviour.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Tradewind).
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
