An amazing secondary school/ pupil referral unit in Chorley are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to start in as soon as popssible! The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils aged 10 – 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties ( SEMH ), and class sizes are small – with only 6 students maximum in each class. The school are ideally looking for someone with experience of supporting pupils in an SEN or PRU setting, and are able to support pupils who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate for this teaching assistant role will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils. The school require a teaching assistant to start in as soon as possible until July 2025, with potential of a contract with school. The role will involve working school hours from 8.30 – 3.30pm, with rates of pay available from £90 – £110, dependant upon experience. Responsibilities as part of this teaching assistant role include: * Within an agreed system of supervision, work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing specialist support to maximise pupil development and achievement. * Provide and deliver learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of allocated pupils. * Provide specialist support to pupils with learning behavioural, communication social sensory or physical difficulties. * Escort and supervise pupils on out of school activities using own initiative to deal with issues that arise and maintaining good order and standards of behaviour To join us and be successful in this Teaching Assistant role in Chorley , you will need to: * Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one), Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks. * Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained. * Have the legal right to work in the UK.
