This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a creative, ambitious and nurturing school community that places a strong emphasis on innovation, academic excellence and student wellbeing. The successful candidate will deliver engaging practical and theory lessons across Years 7 to 11, inspiring students to develop confidence, independence and a genuine passion for Food and Nutrition.

You will join a well-resourced department that benefits from a modern Food room with recently updated furniture and equipment, and excellent access to technology, including Google Classroom and the school's wider teaching and learning innovation programme. In addition to classroom teaching, you will contribute to the continued development of the department by helping to shape schemes of work, supporting GCSE examination preparation and NEA coursework, and participating in a range of enriching educational experiences. These include departmental trips and visits, alongside extracurricular activities, clubs, intervention sessions and collaborative projects.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold QTS, or be willing to gain QTS within a reasonable period.
  • Be able to teach Food Preparation and Nutrition confidently to GCSE level.
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and effective classroom practice.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to support and challenge learners of all abilities.
  • Be highly organised and confident using IT to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Be committed to safeguarding, continuous professional development and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Desirable:

  • Experience contributing to extracurricular clubs and activities.
  • Experience teaching within the wider Creative Arts curriculum.
