The Role
They are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and resilient Teacher of Biology and Physical Education (PE) to join a dedicated team in the Standish area. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a creative and engaging curriculum to students who may have faced barriers to learning in mainstream settings. You will play a pivotal role in re-engaging students, building strong therapeutic relationships, and helping them achieve both academic success in science and physical well-being through sport.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Biology lessons up to KS4, ensuring GCSE or equivalent curricula are accessible and engaging.
- Lead dynamic PE sessions that promote teamwork, physical health, and emotional regulation.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of our students.
- Maintain a safe, calm, and positive classroom environment rooted in relational practice.
- Collaborate with support staff, multi-agency teams, and families to ensure holistic student development.
- Participate actively in weekly staff training sessions every Wednesday afternoon.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred. A strong subject knowledge in Biology and PE is essential.
- Experience: Experience working within an Alternative Provision, SEMH school, or supporting vulnerable youth in mainstream settings is highly desirable.
- Skills: Exceptional behaviour management skills built on empathy, patience, and restorative practice.
- Attributes: A non-judgemental attitude, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for making a difference in young people's lives.
