Subject Specialist Teaching Assistants – Cornwall

Location: Across Cornwall (including Liskeard, Saltash, Truro, St Austell, Bodmin, Penzance, and surrounding areas)
Pay: 85-100 per day (depending on experience and subject expertise)
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, term-time only | Temp-to-perm and long-term roles available

We\’re working with a range of secondary schools and alternative provisions across Cornwall that are looking for subject-savvy Teaching Assistants to support pupils in the classroom – particularly in English, Maths, Science, PE, Computing, DT, and Humanities.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves their subject and wants to inspire young people without taking on the full responsibilities of a teacher. Whether you\’re a graduate looking for experience before teaching, a former instructor, or someone with a passion for a specific subject area, we\’d love to hear from you.

What you\’ll be doing:

  • Providing in-class support alongside subject teachers

  • Delivering small group or 1:1 interventions in your specialist area

  • Helping pupils engage with subject content and build confidence

  • Supporting behaviour, focus, and learning across the school day

  • Acting as a role model and consistent presence for students who may need additional support

We\’re looking for:

  • Subject knowledge in one or more areas (ideally to A-Level or degree level)

  • Some experience working with children or young people (formal or informal)

  • A proactive, calm and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and the confidence to support learning in a busy classroom

What you\’ll need:

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Two references from the last two years

  • Right to work in the UK
