Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Job Type: Full-time Hours: Monday-Friday Contract: Permanent / Temporary / Long-term Salary: £110-£150 per day, depending on experience and qualifications About the Role We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist school in the Stoke-on-Trent area and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with special educational needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SALT, or a therapist looking to develop their experience within a specialist educational setting. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, intervention and advice to pupils with a wide range of communication and language needs. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals to help pupils develop their communication skills and achieve their individual potential. Key Responsibilities Assess and identify pupils' speech, language and communication needs. Develop and deliver individual and group speech and language therapy programmes. Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to embed communication strategies throughout the school day. Provide advice, training and guidance to school staff and families. Contribute to pupils' EHCPs, including setting appropriate communication targets. Monitor, record and review pupils' progress. Adapt therapeutic approaches to meet individual needs. Support pupils with a range of communication difficulties, including speech, language, social communication and understanding. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside teachers, teaching assistants, occupational therapists, psychologists and other professionals. Attend meetings and contribute to planning and review processes. Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records. Promote inclusive communication throughout the school environment. About You We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and highly motivated professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. You will ideally have: A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy. HCPC registration. Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEN. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and professionals. A flexible and creative approach to therapy. The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional confidentiality. A commitment to person-centred and child-focused practice.Experience working with pupils with autism, learning disabilities, complex communication needs, sensory needs or developmental language disorders would be highly advantageous.
