Are you an exceptional teacher looking to make a strong impact on a part-time basis in a KS1 setting?

On behalf of our client school, Tradewind would like to present you with a fantastic part-time opportunity to play a key role in the progress and attainment of pupils in a Year 2 class within a high performing school in Tameside. This position will commence September 2026 and run until the end of the academic year. The school will welcome applications from ECTs as well as more experienced staff and encourage teachers with direct KS1 experience to apply.

About the School

The school is a two-form entry primary school catering for children between the ages of three and eleven in a diverse community in Brinnington, Stockport. The school has been judged by OFSTED as a consistently 'Good' school which embraces a school ethos where children develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that will prepare them to be successful citizens of the future.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the progress and attainment of approximately 30 pupils in a mixed ability class on Thursdays and Fridays. You will be joined by a full-time teaching assistant who is experienced and very familiar with the Year 2 curriculum and be expected to communicate well with the job share teacher to discuss planning and prepare resources.

Key Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging lessons that align with Year 2 National Curriculum standards and support the creative curriculum delivered by the school.
  • Build a positive rapport with all pupils based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Understand age-related expectations for children within Year 2 and scaffold and stretch accordingly to maximise educational outcomes for pupils as individuals.
  • Keep up-to-date records of data and analyse where and what to reteach to bridge gaps in learning and raise levels of attainment.
  • Plan targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy and report progress to the SENDCO to evaluate the effectiveness in relation to targets set.
  • Work effectively as a team player with the partner teacher, key stage and wider staff to share advice, resources and best practice.
  • Contribute to the extra-curricular programme which operates on a rotational basis.

Essential Requirements:

  • QTS (Or an equivalent teaching qualification).
  • Excellent references to support previous experience (ideally in a Year 2 class).
  • A CV that covers the last 10 years employment history with any CV gaps explained.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Be subject to an enhanced child only DBS check.
