The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil, helping them access learning and develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for a designated Year 1 pupil.
- Support children with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and emotional regulation needs.
- Assist with learning activities and classroom engagement.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Implement and support targets outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Adapt learning resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 8:15am to 4:30pm
Friday: 8:15am to 3:00pm
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will:
- Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum. Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications are desirable.
- Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant, or SEN Support Worker.
- Have experience supporting children with SEND in either a specialist or mainstream setting.
- Be confident supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience, and a child-centred approach.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Be available to work Monday to Friday.
