Tradewind Recruitment are excited to be partnering with a friendly and well-respected primary school in St Albans, Hertfordshire, to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Year 1 Primary Teacher for a full-time, 12-month temporary contract starting in September 2026.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that support pupils through this important stage of their primary education. The school is looking for a teacher who is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged and motivated to succeed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 1
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and strong behaviour management skills
  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Use effective assessment to monitor progress and support pupil achievement
  • Be committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and the wider school community
  • Have a genuine passion for helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally
