A welcoming primary/secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to support pupils both in the classroom and through physical education and sports-based activities.
Role Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils in lessons using sports and physical activity to promote engagement
- Assisting with PE lessons, sports clubs, and extracurricular activities
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils who benefit from active learning
- Encouraging teamwork, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Working closely with teachers to adapt activities to suit different abilities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A background in sports, coaching, or physical education
- Experience working with children or young people (school, club, or community setting)
- High energy, positive attitude, and strong communication skills
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils through sport
- A genuine passion for health, fitness, and education
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Coaching qualifications (e.g. FA, Level 1/2 Coaching, Sports Science)
- Experience supporting SEND or behavioural needs
- First Aid or safeguarding training
