Overview
Communication Specialist Teaching Assistant role supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) in Northamptonshire schools.
Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term or Temp-to-Perm
Salary: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
- Support students 1:1 and in small groups to develop communication and interaction skills
- Use tools such as PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and sensory resources (training provided)
- Work closely with class teachers and speech therapists to deliver structured interventions
- Help create an inclusive and structured learning environment
- Promote confidence, independence, and emotional regulation
- Assist with classroom routines and preparation of resources
