Location: Chorley, Lancashire

Salary: .89 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: September 2026

Are you caring, patient, and passionate about supporting young people with complex needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN school in Chorley seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASD).

The Role

  • Provide tailored learning, behavioural, and sensory support for pupils with SLD and Autism.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to promote independence, positive communication, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support structured learning routines, therapy programmes, and use communication aids such as Makaton or PECS.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist support staff.

About You

  • Experience in care, support work, or SEN education (specifically with SLD or Autism preferred).
  • Compassionate, reliable, and resilient with a calm, nurturing approach to managing behaviour.
  • Comfortable assisting with personal care and daily routines where necessary.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
