About the Role

This specialised provision caters to secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated maths lessons tailored to students with SEMH and ASC needs.
- Foster a positive, low-stress, and structured classroom environment that promotes proactive behaviour management and emotional regulation.
- Adapt the national curriculum to make mathematics practical, relatable, and accessible for learners who may have experienced educational disengagement.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary support teams, including SENCOs, speech and language therapists, and pastoral care staff.
- Track academic progress and personal development milestones, setting realistic and empowering targets for individual learners.
- Build strong, trusting professional relationships with students, parents, carers, and external agencies.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., QTLS) with a relevant Mathematics specialism.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level, ideally within an SEN, SEMH, or ASC specialist setting (or mainstream experience with a strong, demonstrable passion for inclusive/special needs education).
- Skills: Exceptional behaviour management strategies rooted in de-escalation, empathy, and therapeutic approaches.
- Attributes: High emotional intelligence, resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the life chances of vulnerable young people.
