Social, Emotional Mental Health Teaching Assistant Required – Immediate Start. Location: Runcorn. Contract: Full-time, Long-term.

A primary school in Runcorn is looking for a passionate and reliable Social, Emotional Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 9th. This is a full-time position with the potential to become permanent for the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with a pupil who requires additional SEMH support.
  • Using tailored strategies to help them regulate emotions and behaviour.
  • Adapting learning activities to make sure the curriculum is accessible.
  • Building a safe, inclusive environment where the child can thrive and gain confidence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs (primary school experience is ideal).
  • A calm and patient manner, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Understanding of behaviour management approaches.
  • A Level 2/3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
