If you're passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with additional needs, this is an excellent opportunity to join welcoming school communities where your support will have a genuine impact.
Whether you're already working in education or bring valuable experience from care, youth work, residential support, sports coaching or mental health services, we'd love to hear from you.
Your Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and wider school staff to provide individual and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs. You'll help create a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.
You could be supporting pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate, Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties
- Sensory, physical and medical needs
The role includes supporting classroom learning, encouraging positive behaviour, developing communication and social skills, and helping pupils become more independent both inside and outside the classroom.
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- A caring, patient and supportive approach
- Resilience and the ability to adapt to different situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliability, professionalism and strong attendance
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
Experience within an SEN setting is beneficial but not essential. Applicants with transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting children with SEND are encouraged to apply.
