Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a range of mainstream primary schools across Sheffield to recruit a committed and experienced Behaviour Support Assistant with up-to-date Team Teach training. This is a full-time position supporting pupils who need help regulating their emotions and behaviour within the school environment. Many of the children you will work with may have additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition or ADHD, requiring a calm, consistent and understanding approach. The role will see you working closely with class teachers, SEN teams and pastoral staff to help create a positive learning environment where every child can access education and feel supported.

Responsibilities

  • Providing targeted behaviour support to pupils across the primary age range
  • Supporting children with SEND, including autism and ADHD
  • Assisting teaching staff in lessons to promote engagement and focus
  • Working with pupils in nurture rooms or designated calm spaces when required
  • Using Team Teach strategies to safely de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Encouraging positive routines, emotional regulation and independence
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support progress

Qualifications

  • Valid and current Team Teach qualification
  • Proven experience in a similar behaviour or SEND support role
  • Confidence supporting children with additional needs in a school setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, resilient attitude
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
