Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting enthusiastic, adaptable, and confident SEN Cover Supervisors to work across specialist schools and provisions throughout Sheffield on a supply basis. This rewarding role involves supervising and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the absence of the class teacher. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning while receiving the support they need to succeed.
Working across a range of specialist settings, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Supervise and support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt activities and communication styles to meet individual pupil needs.
- Support behaviour management strategies and encourage positive engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and wider school staff.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement throughout the day.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role is desirable.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- A patient, flexible, and proactive approach.
- Confidence leading groups of students and managing behaviour positively.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience within specialist schools, alternative provisions, or SEN environments would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
