TRADEWIND EDUCATION is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a large and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield from September on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEND professionals to provide academic, behavioural, and emotional support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in lessons across a range of curriculum subjects.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group intervention support for students requiring additional assistance.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective classroom activities.
- Support students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies.
- Help students develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and other support staff.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion throughout the school environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Have experience working with young people in a school, tutoring, coaching, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are patient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Have good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Can work effectively as part of a team while using their own initiative.
- Are committed to supporting students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting is desirable but not essential.
