Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to join a specialist SEND school in Sheffield on a full-time, fixed-term basis until July 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and is confident delivering learning across a wide age range, from Year 3 through to Year 11.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for covering lessons across the school, ensuring pupils remain engaged and supported in their learning. You will work closely with class teachers and other members of staff to ensure continuity of learning, including supporting with lesson planning, delivery and assessment. You will be working with pupils with a range of complex needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Complex learning and communication needs

The successful candidate will need to be confident managing challenging situations, building positive relationships with pupils and adapting their approach to meet individual needs.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor within a school setting.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND and complex needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and SEMH/behavioural needs.
  • A confident and consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and establish clear boundaries.
  • The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and wider school staff.
  • Experience of supporting planning, learning and assessment.
  • Ideally, a TA qualification at Level 4 or above, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential.
