Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Stockport to appoint an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school environment where staff are dedicated to fostering both academic and personal development.
The Role
As an SEND TA, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SENCO to deliver tailored support to students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in both classroom-based and one-to-one settings, adapting materials and strategies to help pupils access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to students with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist the class teacher in implementing EHCP strategies and individual learning plans
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
- Monitor and record student progress, reporting to relevant staff
- Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's policy
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working in schools or educational settings is essential - applications from candidates without relevant school-based experience will not be considered
- Strong understanding of SEND and how to support young people with additional needs
- A calm, nurturing approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent desirable)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for a new one)
- Availability to work full-time from 22nd April 2025
