The Opportunity
Are you a compassionate individual looking for a stable, long-term role in an SEN school in Chorley? We are seeking a General Class Teaching Assistant to support a group of pupils with complex needs. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, hands-on, and dedicated to pupil welfare. Because this is a Temp-to-Perm position, you will have the opportunity to ensure the school is the right fit for you before committing to a permanent contract.
Primary Responsibilities
- Classroom Support: Assist the teacher in delivering sensory-based and adapted lessons for pupils with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).
- Personal Care (Essential): Confidently assist pupils with daily personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and feeding.
- Manual Handling: Support pupils with physical disabilities using hoists or mobility aids (training provided where necessary).
- Behavior Management: Use de-escalation techniques to support pupils with SEMH or sensory processing needs.
Requirements for the Role
- Location: Must be able to commute to Chorley daily for an 08:30 start.
- Experience: Previous experience in care, nursing, or SEN education is highly valued.
- Demeanor: A 'can-do' attitude and a high level of empathy.
- Compliance: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be prepared to process a new one immediately.
